Deaeration trial and configuration

Vacuum and temperature operating basis for food deaeration

Specify absolute pressure, product temperature and vapour load together for the vessel, condenser and vacuum source.

Start with the measurement boundary

Specify absolute pressure, product temperature and vapour load together for the vessel, condenser and vacuum source.

Use unambiguous pressure units

State vessel absolute pressure and the measurement location. Distinguish absolute pressure from gauge vacuum and identify the instrument range. Record actual inlet temperature rather than only a heater setpoint.

Review flashing and heat change

Pressure and temperature affect vapour generation, foam and product cooling. Review the actual food properties and desired outlet condition with the supplier. Do not set a universal pressure from the product name or from water behaviour alone.

Size the connected gas service

Describe expected gas/vapour load, condenser cooling, non-condensable removal, leaks, vacuum source and discharge. Check normal operation, start-up and upset conditions together. The gas service must be reviewed with the product distributor and level-control window.
